Requisite sabre post

Hello everyone, this is Lesley! New sabre J1s for the win, so in case no-one told you these things, this is all for your reference:
  1. Oil your sabres regularly (once a month is very advisable especially for China sabres, these things rust like no-one's business) to prevent them from rusting. You can use cooking oil but I like WD-40. Keep your blades covered if you're not using them to prevent rust!!
  2. Do not put your lamé in the washing machine - you can (and should) hand-wash it under the shower but do not apply any friction to the surface whatsoever.
  3. Try to understand the rules of priority as fast as you can and constantly keep them in mind while you're training. It makes competitions and free fencing a lot easier and more fun!
  4. Get used to wearing full gear. I cannot emphasize this enough especially since Clementi has no air-con and sabre fencers have to wear the lamé over the jacket.
I can't think of anything else, so I'll leave you with that! In the meantime, I hope someone makes a similar post for the new épée fencers (because I'm obviously not qualified to do that).
